Kit wiring questions!
The BOM lists in the paper instructions lists 4-wire 22 awg and 3-wire 16 awg. Included in the kit I have 4-wire 16 awg and 3-wire 18 awg. Should I just use the 4-wire for everything? I’m somewhat novice at electronics/wiring, but I don’t see a use for the 3-wire 18 awg since it’s not useful for steppers and too small for the spindle currents? Please advise!
Darren
The 3-18 I got wasn’t suitable for spindle use because it was solid (and small, and not shielded). I think they should recall it. It will fail very quickly due to the work hardening of the solid copper.
I bought some of this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/152381653469
It’s massive overkill and barely fits in the cable chain. But overkill is how I roll!
Agreed with below. Happy to replace the wire. We are still trying to figure out where the solid core wire came from. 16/3 will be fine for limits, true an overkill. There should be 4 wire in the kit though. Need to investigate what is going on here.
Im a little confused at this point. Right now I have just started the wiring and I have 18-4 and 18-6.
