Knew this would happen eventually,

Knew this would happen eventually, I was curious to see how long the PLA mount on my crummy ‘3d Czar’ i3 would survive. I didn’t have enough fans so moved one from cooling the hot-end’s heat-break to the motor and after a few days of printing… This happened… Impressive jam but easy enough to fix(got a new printed part waiting, changing heads anyway). And I’m proud of my home-made hobbed bolt(The one that came with it bent/stopped working) not bending/damaging it’s teath at all despite chewing up so much filament! :slight_smile:

@Alex_Lee Nice fix! The other fix is to print the retaining plate out of ABS like every other printer… :slight_smile:
Best thing about a sub-standard printer is ripping it apart and remaking it feels a lot less… guilty than a well made one that always works! So more things to explore and play with and upgrade to the the current versions of.

@Alex_Lee that’s the one!
I hope to replace about 80% of the horrible orange coloured parts with nice new ones… But might leave one or two as a reminder of where it came from. These printers tell a better story when the parts are multi-coloured! :slight_smile:

So funny/sad. I have a pic JUST LIKE THAT from my 3d-printer-czar kit! (the plate by itself bent all out of shape)

@Tom_Buaas And to stop it happening again, I also plan to print one of:
