nice
Is this safe?
@Adam_Steinmark no it isn’t safe. It should have glass filter shields around it and all persons in the room should be wearing glasses (which we can’t see if they use).
Kids, don’t try this at home. These are not professionals, evident by the lack of respect for potential harm.
That’s the scary thing about so many of these “lets bodge a laser onto a 3d printer” schemes that i see, there seems to be no respect for how dangerous lasers are, if its strong enough to burn paper then it only takes a fraction of a second and one stray reflection for your eyes to be permanently damaged, and thats not just you, but anyone that walks in that room
Not just eye damage – this type of blue laser can cause skin melanomas because it’s ionizing. Yet you see tons of dispersed laser light and exposed skin in these videos. And very few laser safety glasses are actually strong enough to absorb a full hit from a class IV laser. Cranking up the stupid to 11, the laser is attached with flammable plastic parts. This is atrociously dangerous. These guys are just looking to make a quick buck and don’t care who they hurt, even themselves.
Any laser device of this power level must be fully enclosed and have some sort of safety interlock or key-switch. As far as I can tell, this is actually illegal to sell in the US and EU because it’s grossly unsafe.
