Laser & CNC Box.

Laser & CNC Box. LaserWeb4 for engrave and Vetric for the box (mostly because of the filleting feature). Kind of a first try at “flip” operations and aligning things on two different machines. Elekes A3 2.5W Laser and ShapeOko 2. Material is Meranti (which sucks to mill) sanded and rubbed with boiled linseed oil. I might just vcarve the heart design next time…or do some more fancy raster…and it will be in something other than Meranti. It does polish up nice though.

Oh and sap pockets in meranti = no fun.

Nice one

Nice job. It would also look cool to cut through the outline of the hearts, like fretwork.

Yeah my little 2.5 W won’t cut through Meranti…the K40 Might…but this stuff likes to catch on fire in the K40 for some reason. I was thinking of possibly doing a V-carve of the hearts (inside or out) possibly pushing the flats deep enough to pierce through so it’s lacy.

Ok - I thought you cut the box with a router and then lasered it. If you had a small endmill i.e. 1/8" or 1/16", you could cut them out with vcarve.
