Laser not working when control wiring plugged into LPS

It’s awesome that it is fixed and just look at what a bad crimp taught us.

We probably should have checked all connections as soon as things stopped making sense :)… i.e. why would the controller not assert L when there are no alarms!!!

My guess is the problem was the ground as that can create all kinds of chaos… yet our test results pointed to nothing coming from the controller on L.

#34 showed no L signal from the controller!

#27 measured the correct voltage on the LPS when power set at 50%

Okay, similar problem, slightly different fix but I wouldn’t have gotten there if it hadn’t been for this thread. Wish I had found it earlier as I now have a new 50w laser tube I likely won’t need for a while. Did save me buying an extra power supply thought.

My problem was similar in that everything seemed to be working except my laser would randomly stop firing in random locations on my bed, along with my laser positioning dot. After reading this post I traced the wiring for my laser dot and found that within the wiring drag chain on my gantry the wires had actually been torn in half and the frayed ends were shorting out and killing power to the laser head somehow.

So apparently, wiring issues anywhere in your machine can impact the laser. Thanks again.
