Last week I finally gave my Prusa i3 Mk2S a long overdue service (mostly belt-tightening and cleaning) and, after some hours of torture test printing, also had the chance to print with my first reel of Filamentum PLA Extrafill, in this case, “Vertigo Galaxy”. I’d seen a few prints using this Extrafill materials on here but with 95% of my customer orders being the dull old white, black, grey, etc., I couldn’t really justify getting in a reel of this stuff just for fun, but I snapped last week and did anyway. REALLY pleased with the results of this head by cerberus333 at Thingiverse (thing 1559944), printed 75mm high. This is at 110 microns and the surface feels completely smooth. I’m particularly happy with the layer end “seam” (configured to run up the back of the head) which is almost invisible. This really is one of the best PLA prints I’ve done in a long time. All I need now is an excuse to buy other variations!
Well made!
Why 110?
What’s your slicer program?
@Ryan_Carlyle simple timings - i was going out later that evening and wanted it ready to take with me - 110 gave the best quality vs time to print!
@Mike_Meyer2 Simplify3D
@Jon_Gritton would you share your factory profile with me? I want to try it on my mk3. Never reached such a perfect print quality. Really impressive!
Bravo
Im interested in your slicer as well. How do you configure the start and stop point of the layer?
Fff profile needed here as well, mk3 and S3d not quite smooth yet, nice print in your post!
Hi folks, my FFF profile is available here. I’ve just reprinted using another PLA and although the results were good, the lighter colour did show some marks on the seam, still OK though, especially if set to random position. The trick here for this object is to turn off ALL retraction, since the model is solid and there’s no movement outside the boundaries.

Thanks
Thanks a lot!
