Learning Fusion 360 and needed to print a Faux Echo Dot for a test

Learning Fusion 360 and needed to print a Faux Echo Dot for a test platform for any kind of accessories that I may want to design. So I 3D printed it today. The face plate and light ring are friction fit. All printed on a stock Monoprice Maker Select Mini with cheap filament. Im a little surprised that it came out OK. Need some work on the face plate as the buttons are in the wrong spots and need to add the holes around the perimeter but otherwise its pretty darn accurate. Even a micro-USB and mini-jack plug in with a decent fit up. Size is spot on!

Wonder if @3D_Printing_Nerd would print one on a gMax at like 300%! Lol.

@DIY3DTECH.com - I’m picking up this Fusion 360 thing slowly but surly. Look out buddy, I’m gunnin for ya! Lol

Looks great! Can you share the files? I use the hairspray method for plate adhesion, and for smooth finishes I print the face I want smooth again the hairspray so it gets a smooth matte finish. Might work well if you print the unit button side down on hairspray…

@John_Baird - Thank you. I will put the files on Thingiverse when I fix the face plate. Give me about a week.

I use blue tape and hairspray myself. I would print the face down except for the details in the buttons are negative space and they have a slight “dish” to them that would prevent it from coming out right. I’m betting if it were printed in ABS then vapor smoothed it would look awesome. But since it’s just for a “stand in” for designing accessories, the finish is not a high priority.

Nicely done. :+1:

@Nate_T - Thanks! It’s crude to me right now because it’s not 100% to where I want it, but it’s my first project that I did from scratch that is all my design. Once I get the buttons right and the slotted holes on the faceplate then I’m gonna put the model up on Thingiverse.
