LEONOZZLE: Fan Mount
Why is the heater-block triangular?
I was just looking at that, then I thought, “why bother heating up extra aluminum?” It might cause faster fluctuations, but, as long as your heating profile can handle it, triangular might actually be better.
@Sanjay_Mortimer The original (Spanish language) post about this hot end seemed to say it was intended to concentrate heat on the filament tube to allow for faster heating. I can’t guarantee that’s what the post really meant, especially since I can’t find it now, but I wondered the same thing and that’s the answer I remember the post giving.
Yes @Stephen_Baird that is the reason. Faster heating.
@Jesus_Fernandez_Fern : just curious if this is an AutoCad drawing or anything else. Thanks in advance.
The Hotend reaches the right temperature (220 °C) in 70 seconds.
Why not triangular? You need to accommodate a longer heater on one side and the small profile of the nozzle on the other.
It would be great to make a temp profile of the block with a thermal camera. I wonder if that shape acts as a heat sink and the temp measured by the thermistor is not slightly above the real temp at the peak.
