Let the fun begin. Complete conversion over to open source. Smoothiware to the rescue!
Which one is this?
Why would you convert a Dimension printer to an opensource build? I know you gain a lot (no proprietary filaments, ability to use alternative slicers, etc) but their printers are pretty damn good out of the factory.
It’s missing print head. And I don’t want to deal with the proprietary filament cartridge
Dimensions bst. 3 ballscrew z axis model
Nice!
What type of printer is that one? Never saw something like that one
@lightshadown it’s a proprietary printer by Statasys.
@_Spice it already has the Cartesian motion platform. And the main reason for buying this is for the already engineered heated chamber. I bought it for cheap because it is missing the print head which I don’t need.
The reason these machines are readily available missing the print head is because the heads are sent in for their “trade-in” programs, instead of shipping the whole machine back.
@Jeff_DeMaagd Do they do that to somewhat protect the design of the print head?
Hello Zombie post!
oh my i didnt see the age of this lol
Oh, no it’s just an easy way to assure the machine is useless short of sending the whole thing back.
@Jordan_Bourns no worries, I was just like, wait, why did I get notified about this post… oh uh, wow
@Kyle1 did the conversion turn out ok?
