to print a sphere with an even layer pattern you need to use tiles.
These are 12 to be printed on a flat surface which could be arranged as a dodecahedron to form the circumscribed sphere of it.
For best optical properties it is printed in polycarbonate. When printing the singlewall sphere tile the overhanging filament formed small “lens” drops.
The tiles were glued together with an UV-curing glue applied with a syringe.
