LulzBot TAZ-5 has a 25% coupon on Amazon, right there on the page just click ‘use coupon’ checkbox. $2200, 25% should be $550 which is sort of a huge discount, if anyone was in the mood today is the day for that machine. Wish I could, but just can’t make an excuse for another printer on my budget and having 2 of my own design and a 3rd i3 clone. Still, would be nice to know what one of these machines is like to own…
Owning a lulzbot is pure bliss. It’s an amazing experience from the first unboxing. They are amazing machines and lulzbot is amazing for simply existing. Local hackerspace won a contest they were holding which I entered them into; We got their old AO-101. (aleph objects is like…parent company of lulzbot) and it was beautiful. We unboxed it, and it came with a small little toolbox full of tools; everything we could ever need to service the machine. The machine was perfectly calibrated out of the box (though that didn’t last long, as everyone and their mother thought they knew how to “level” the build plate.), and printed ABS flawlessly. There weren’t as many material choices available back then as there is now.
I disagree somewhat, but being open source allowed me to make several improvements. to be fair, I am somewhat of a perfectionist. I have not found a printer that meets my expectations with out of the box quality.
