Mahdia, Tunisia. Do you think they’re using FastLED?
(Second try)
This being my second time traveling through less well-off parts of the Middle East, it’s interesting how the availability of cheap LED-based signage changes the streetscape of a middle-ages era medina.)
Just took another look and video worked for me this time. Very colourful! Yes, certainly gives off a rather modern vibe. Thanks for posting.
Seems that if it’s just a simple repeating pattern that it could have been manually programmed in a variety of ways. Are there any sort of tell tale signs something is probably using FastLED?
Ok, so here’s the deal: you can tell for sure when something ISN’T using FastLED HSV colors. If the ‘yellow’ colors look greenish, or go by very quickly while a rainbow wash is cycling, that’s NOT using FastLED HSV colors.
If the yellows are bright, “lemon-y”, and get as much time in the rainbow color wash as the oranges or greens, then that might be FastLED!
This past year on the playa, we were able to easily spot which installations were not (yet) running FastLED’s colors.
