Make sure you consider your 3D printing work space as exactly that - a work space which means that you should think about safety first.
Another article made the analogy that the UFP per million is similar to cooking food in a frying pan or using a grill. Prolonged exposure is definitely something to consider.
The only thing I don’t like about this article (and many others) is when they write that ABS has carcinogens but PLA is biocompatible. Yes, the PLA polymers themselves are, but you do not know what additives (namely plasticizers) are in the plastic, whether intentionally or due to residue contamination. That being said, ventilation when using ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) should definitely be a concern.
Proteins is cool but I can’t wait till we start self-assembly from atoms around us - no mess, just hit a button and watch it build - no matter in any matter out
Don’t stand too close to the microwave, your cell gives you cancer…
Maybe these fumes explain the fact that I can hear my 3d printer printing at night… when I’m in the other room… and its turned off…
@Alejandro_Ogata pro tip, too much water can cause cancer too.
If you’re worried about this you should stop cooking on a stove, get rid of any candles you use, and throw away your laser printer. They have the same miniscule risk due to nano sized particles.
eric my point exactly, im 34 all the health warnings i ve seen in the past 20yrs im suprised humans are still alive lol
Although I did get really stuffed up nose and choaking feeling with too much exposure to ABS fumes. Once I made my filter (thing:112734) I have not had those problems.
