makerbot Replicator 2 with 2400 print hours Over the past 2 days I have changed nozzles twice and cleaned out multiple cloggs… I am thinking maybe the heater block /Thermocoupler is bad… I have gotten it to print intermittently over the past few days… Anyone run into this issue? Using makerbot filament (cool gray) the last print jammed up inside of 30 min and stopped extruding

Lots of people have, the extruders are really bad and apparently they’re just offering multiple replacements at a discount rather than fixing it. http://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/2ovd27/makerbot_aware_of_faulty_extruder/

Replicator 2 uses the MK7 style extruder, not the Smart Extruder of the 5th gen machine that’s been giving users trouble. I’m not sure how to address this problem other than disassemble, clean it out thoroughly and try a different material.

When was the last time you replaced the wires to the extruder? They gradually wear out from the constant flexing and become intermittently open. Your Makerbot part number is MP04240 “Cable Assembly E - Extruder Stepper Control / Heater / Fan (Rev 2 / Ferrite)”, cost is $18.90. If you have an older Rep 2 the part number without the ferrite is MP03112 and the cost is $10.22.
