Me: “Wow, that is a very nice looking set of parts, what printer are you going to build?”
Him: “coreXY. But not with belts. I’m going to use spindles.”

Took a few seconds. But then…

I’m going to have to spend some time now trying to figure out a way you actually COULD make CoreXY work without belts/cables…
For clarity, what does spindle mean here? Screws?
Like this???

Now I’m imagining a screw with a 45 degree lead angle (like a 8x50 screw) and involute-shaped threads where the Y screws and X screw would mesh like worm gears… could work…?
bu is it coreXY then?
Not a CoreXY, but it would be reasonable to call it an H-bot.
CoreXY sounds cool, so people use it for any design with stacked X/Y axes…
Spindle…is that what you call a shaft with gear threads? Maybe he is making something like a mod-t?
Oh wait. Spindle is like a spool. Maybe it is driven by fishing line.
Maybe he means a Morgan
No
It was just a newbe, who thought, every cubic printer is a coreXY…
