Micro 3D printing experiment I did at work!

I saw this article last week about Zealot Miniatures 3D printing a 3mm tall figure. It got me curious about what my own machine at work could do.

My scaling calculations were a bit off, so I ended up printing the smallest at 5mm tall, but look at the legs at this scale! Definitely impressive that they printed individually and well defined with a non-SLA machine. I had to stick them on some putty to keep them standing at that scale. Each leg is about .3mm at the widest.

Printed on a ProJet 3500 HDMax in UXD mode for a 16 micron Z layer thickness. The jaggedness shown on the smaller figures is residual wax support material. It is very difficult to handle objects this size when you are worried about breaking the legs off!

Sorry about the blurriness of the larger prints. My depth of field was really shallow to focus on the smaller figures.

I <3 Minis, I love them so very much!

Yours are detailed down to 5mm. That penny towers over your print!

@Woody_Williams I’ll probably do a few more mini’s. This was really cool to print!
