Monoprice announcing new 3D printers and a CNC mill at CES 2016

Monoprice continues its crusade to bring the maker movement to the masses with the debut of three 3D printers boasting solid constructions, exceptional print quality and easy assembly at prices far below the industry standard. New products include a $199.99 ready-to-print Maker Spark 3D Printer featuring preloaded designs, a $299.99 Maker DLP 3D Printer offering laser printing precision and a $999.99 Maker CNC Mill for printing hard materials like wood and metal.

Maker Spark , $199.999

Maker DLP 3D $299.99

Maker CNC Mill $999.99

The DLP sounds super interesting to me. LCOS light engines are super cheap and have good resolution. So there is a possibility this printer includes a projector.

Did they really claim they’ll be selling a $300 DLP resin printer in that press release?

Probably a bring your own DLP system.

Maybe. But a LCOS based quaterHD light engine is super cheap.

They aren’t on the show floor, I’ll see if I can get to the Westgate and get to the demo suite and check out this DLP printer. The main 3D printing area is in the Sands, a couple of miles away.

Typically Monoprice hasn’t sold kits only complete printers. I’m a dealer/wholesale buyer and while the new FFF machine shows shipping 1/12, there isn’t a listing for the DLP machine yet. The mill looks interesting too. I’m curious to see if it’s a mill or a CNC router.

If they are building the DLP machine on the Spark platform it very well could be a sub $500 machine. I’ll make it over there in the next day or so and check it out.

Thanks!

Awesome, would love pics. Would dearly love a sample print to see if it suits my needs.

@dstevens_lv Hey, did you happen to go over there? I’m extremely interested in the DLP, and you’re very right. Monoprice is far more consumer based, so I highly doubt they would sell one without the projector. Plus, the wording leads me to believe it does come with it. If you could possibly take a look and maybe take some pics and get a look at the build volume, I’d be so grateful. Of course, only if you’re around there. I wouldn’t expect you to go so far just for some random person on the internet. Lol

You are likely going to be disappointed with the DLP printer. Build area is about a 75 x 25 mm platform with about a 75-100 mm Z. Basically jewelry or models. It’s Pi powered using a laser DLP. The gent showing it to me didn’t have much in the way of hard specs or know anything about the software. Nothing was powered up and there were no samples. Will ship Q2 this year. Says they are working on lower cost resins and a larger machine.

The CNC router looked good, targeted at $1200 assembled. If you were into DIY you’d do better getting an OX kit (or even a Shapeoko).

I got a couple of pics, I’ll put them up and post a link.
