More printing on the Formlabs 1 printer. These three were printed at 0.025 mm/layer.
Notice that the clarity of the models lessens after I wash them in the alcohol? Do I have the wrong alcohol perhaps? Strange…

Look very nice but some reference scale would be nice help appreciate the resolution.
I notice the pre-alcohol prints have a smooth surface, while the post-alcohol prints the layers are visible. So a quick guess is that you have a thin surface of uncured material making it glossy prior to the alcohol wash.
You could probably keep the clarity by using a handheld UV lamp, such as the ones dentists use to set fillings, to cure the surface material.
@William_Frick , dragon is 50mm, Robot 33mm and Marvin is 23mm high. For the latter, it is the default size when downloaded from Thingi…
I was looking into one and didn’t get it cause the resin was too costly.
How has the costs been in comparison to filament ?
The resin is way more expensive. This printer belongs to the university computer club (that I was part in starting 23 years ago) @Lulea_Academic_Compu but they cannot afford to use the printer due to resin cost.
I am “renting it”.
Yeah big/thick prints typically yellow overtime as well and you have to keep the alcohol clean too. I use 99% iso if I can. Haven’t tried a uv lamp or spraying with a uv protector yet. I much prefer the white & grey resins w/ the grey being absolutely fab. While its pricey (both machine & resin) the results are amazing, with the detail unlike anything else on the market. It works fantastically for models, prototypes, prints of high poly 3d scans, etc. If all you want to print is a shark clip for your potato chips maybe not so much.
Hey, @Peter_Parnes these were printed straight on the platform? Nice! I hadn’t tried that.
Yes. Wanted to try that to get rid if the support marks.
You can also play around with the size of the contact points of the supports.
Yes, I know. I printed some more rings during the night with the supports reduced to minimum. They are having a party in the alcohol right now
