Great video looking forward to future updates to this series

next up, wooden cloned ultimaker?

Great vid- it has me jonesing to get my cheap 6040 Chinese CNC up and running on LinuxCNC again- either way to make the frame and carriage is a fun and constructive engineering lesson and great to learn.

Here’s the frame I’m cutting. doing mine with F360 but importantly I had to open it in Inkscape and save as an SVG to get the size right. Then just click and extrude. Oh and a little bit of text. ;-p

The carriage I did actually change a little. I added 5mm radius to the inside corners just to make is easier to cut. I’m happy to share it.

I see what you did there with the video length

Cool! Looking forward to the next video  I’m planning of build one of this

And done.

I really want a cnc router now :frowning:

Has anybody got the frame files to share please, I don’t use Github and I can’t open the pdf on Tom’s page for some reason.

@Andy_Shilling How are you going to cut it with template or a Cnc machine?

I’m unsure yet, it depends if I can convince my friend to cnc it out of some lovely aluminium sheet. I guess dxf if I had to choose.

@Andy_Shilling the pdf on my site is a pixel-based template for (2D) printing. Github allows you to download individual files without registering - click the file, hit “RAW” and off you go.
Might have to add a copy on my site, too.

Fantastic @Thomas_Sanladerer thank you, I really should get round to using Github. Great videos by the way I’m learning a lot and can’t wait to get this printer up and running.

the printed parts needed ( having never built one of these ) Im not all that keen on not building along because I missed a part. I know I don’t need to print some of the parts. LCD covers if I already have or will use a different one. So is that a picture of maybe a buildplate with the needed parts and quantities only.
Parts I cant place are like the Y-distance.stl does it need 1 or 4 of them. The spool holder wont fit on a 18mm frame so no point printing that now. I did a layout of what I think is needed and a general layout of where. ( i wont actually print them like that, but yes that is the actual bed size of one of my machines. ) the parts off the plate on the side are the ones I don’t know where they go or how many I need.

Hmm, a livestream for assembly part 1 popped up and then vanished. Postponed?

@Eric_Duprey yup, stream didn’t work out great, postponed to tomorrow and the rest of the week
