While trying to fix up a pulley on the 2nd tower of a delta (driver M3), I jerked the belting up and down a bit to try to get it settle to where it wouldn’t pull the belting to the side, I didn’t have the set screws in pulley attached to the stepper, but it still was feeding electricity.
It wasn’t turned on otherwise, but I saw a little smoke come off the board near the M3 to where you solder a 5v switching DC to DC regulator.
I eventually turned it on to check the damage and it smoked quite a bit more, then it stopped.
Now it will light up the red LED and the backlit to the LCD, but that’s it, even with the stepper attached to M3 disconnected.
Moving any of the steppers, including one hooked up to M3 will light the LCD/red LED, that is all I can get out of it.
Oh to answer your question fully,
USB = red LED + LCD lights up
24v DC = red LED + LCD lights up
I could get by doing smt soldering, I haven’t done any since my father showed me a decade or so ago.
I have the equipment though.
The board is now slightly cracked. Needed to buy 2 more anyway. Was standing on a chair, unscrewed it off my very tall delta, cat got on the chair, I moved my foot forward to avoid stepping on the cat, chair toppled forward, did everything I could to miss the printer itself, grasping onto the board I hit the edge of the table with the board held in my fist, messed my hand up pretty good, no real damage or anything, just lots of scraped skin.
What a day! I’ll check my account, make an order and head to work.
I’m glad my cat is okay, and at least it was two horrible things happening to one single board.
Maybe deep down inside, I just wanted the new revision.
I very much appreciate your fast response and help, totally awesome.
Thanks much Authur.
