Munich-based German RepRap GmbH has launched a second version of its popular 3D printer kit, appropriately named the PRotos V2. The new unit has a stainless steel rectangular frame, plug connections for stepper motors and assembled PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards), making kit construction possible in as little as a day.

Hm, i didn’t know GRR had moved to Munich! Anyways, that printer doesn’t look too spectacular, as it’s basically a Prusa with a square steel frame. However, it is cheap and might be able to grab a slice of the Market that the Velleman kits currently occupy.

230x230x125mm build enveloppe. X and Y sizes are good, but most recent RepRap designs can do 200mm in Z.

I am curious why the frame is stainless steel, which seems overkill for this application. Just for aesthetics of bare steel without having to worry about rust?

@Stan_Seibert non-stainless steel might not rust away (in the traditional way) on a printer, but will get unsightly quickly, as even fingerprints can permanently stain the surface.

@Thomas_Sanladerer if you want to take a look at the Protos 400 - we have one in our Store @3dDinge_UG near Viktualienmarkt
