My 3DR is going full ahead. Now im printing the top parts.

My 3DR is going full ahead. Now im printing the top parts. 2 more to go so i can tight the main structure.

As soon as i have the printer assembled i will upload the skp and stl for the modified bottom and top parts (square tube version). Also, i will upload where the tubes should be drilled.

I had a hard time modifying the bottom/top parts (square tubes) in sketchup.I moved each edge/face until i had a square, took ages. I’m used to openscad but the stl import failed on this. How did you change it ?

there you have the stl for the top and bottom parts. I havent test them
yet, so, they can fail!

HI…
Sorry to say the file have big holes in them… I tried to fix them but they are to bad…

Stuart, i printed all those files without problem. I had to run them
through netfab, once i did that, they where ok.

the top_cover haves problems, the other 2 are fine to print.

Will try to fix it today.

working on it, looks like i managed to fix it.

DONE, top cover cap is fixed. I uploaded the skp and stp.

Im also going to work a bit on the other 2 parts, so, if you can wait, dont print them yet (i have printed them, they work, but i want to make the conversion a bit cleaner)

@Richard_Horne

Thanks Nicolas
Now I can get printing

@Auzze_Auzze good!. top cover is in top shape, bottom motor mounts have some issues and a thin wall, but its printable and can be used.

would a 200x200mm heated bet fit on that base?

its been a really busy week and had no time to tinker with the 3dr. Im starting to work again on it tonight. It would be great if @Richard_Horne can post part 2 or send a few pics about how the fishing line is installed.

Hi Nicolas, how are you mounting the top bearings for the string idlers? In the original 3DR design the idlers are in the T-slots but with the 20mm tubing I don’t yet see how to adjust the string tension. I am using plywood and/or lumber for the frame of my 3DR derivative and so am curious.

Sorry for the late response.

My 3dr is on hold until i finish other projects. One thing that i have to redo is to cut slots for the idlers, that way i will be able to move them up and down for tensioning.

Sorry have you uploaded the STLs for the modified parts for the square tubes ?

Really want to build a version like this one because i can’t get those extrusions.

Thanks you

sorry i cancelled my build of this printer

Awww darn… was looking forward to giving the build a try.
