My Arduino probably killed my mac USB port 
I tried rebooting, resetting SMC, PRAM even reinstalling FTDI - did not help. Anyone had a similar problem? Can a powert short kill a USB? arduino #usb reprap
I’ve never blown a USB port, but recently I made one go into “protection” on a PC. The whole motherboard’s ports did not want to work and rebooting did not help. The fix was to completely shutdown and pull the power cable for a few seconds on the back of the box. Everything was fine afterwards.
Yes, one of the guys from Tested.com fried his mac logic board after miswiring his arduino. He took the mac to the apple store and claimed ignorance of why the board wasn’t working - got it replaced under warranty.
Man my usb has been fried for a year now… about the same time I started playing with the arduino. Coincidence? Probably not.
