My C3D Remix powered Prusa i3.

My C3D Remix powered Prusa i3. Converted from a noname brand printer bought on AliExpress. Note the Remix case from a previous post and my LCD case. I have only 2 remaining plastic structural parts which are in the last photo. Should I install them? Oh and the reason the fan is OUTSIDE the case is because there is so much wire inside it hits the fan. @Eclsnowman you might making the case about 30mm taller if you make another iteration. Personally I have always hated wiring up ANY board. Universally the wiring is a mess in every one I have worked on and I advocate the use of a daughter board or some connector station for a ribbon cable and a terminal block that can go on the printer for motor, thermistor, hot end, etc. This way, all that goes to the control box is a ribbon and power wires…but that’s just me.

I will make an extra tall variation just for you. Give me a day or so.

@Eclsnowman I am ok for now. But your new version I will put into my next printer. Thanks!!!

So, Starbucks sizing?

Pretty much. Grande, Venti, etc.

Seconding the need for a taller lid. Remix can take a lot of wires.

And the after shots:

And with GLCD:

@raykholo as you can see I stuffed a lot of wire around and under the printer but really the whole board design community, I think, should consider simplifying the connections. It just makes for cleaner, less strained and likely less problematic wiring. Of course, as I always say, I’m just a dumb programmer…

@Michael_Johnson hahahahaha rotflmao

+Peter van der Walt do you remember who all was in the conversation years ago about using compufer ribbon cables for the hotends and fans? I think you and others had schematics for a wiring board taking a ribbon cable with power beong split between multiple wires on the ribbon cable. Say 2-3 years ago?

+Peter van der Walt cool. Was I about right on my recollection of the time?

+Peter van der Walt my ability to bring up old vague recollections of discussions amazes me at times.

+Peter van der Walt thanks for being able to pull those up quickly like that.

@Roy_Cortes and I implemented ribbon cables with IDC connectors on the Bukito back in 2013. Previous to that, nophead used them on the Mendel90, but his version required soldering to the ends of the individual wires rather than using IDC connectors. The project a couple of years ago was to create a standard building on lessons learned from the Bukito, and including things that other printers need that the Bukito didn’t (including some future-proofing).

Thank you @NathanielStenzel , +Peter van der Walt, @Whosa_whatsis and others. How effective was your implementation and how portable to other printers was it.
