My company finally had the capital available to invest in a 3D printer and we picked up a Lulzbot TAZ5. I am impressed by the print quality of the first test piece! This is also the first time I have seen the MatterControl print software, which looks pretty nice. I have to start digging into its features and compare it to MakerWare, which I use at home.

What is this spray can, on the left?

Looks like canned air…

Yes, it’s just canned air. I have it there because above the TAZ5 is my UP! printer, and I have to blow the ABS dust out of the feed drive periodically.

what does your company do and what type of products are you looking to make on the printer ? prototypes ? Spec samples etc ?

I ask because I invested in a solidpress Just so I don’t have to wait for others to print my samples.

We make automated tools for biotech companies. Usually ends up being things like fixtures, robot end effectors, stuff like that.

thanks - are you going to use the printed parts in actual products or just for prototypes ? ( If I can ask …)

Just prototypes. Everything is eventually machined.
