My first 3D print! I'm pretty amazed by the print quality of the Anet

My first 3D print! I’m pretty amazed by the print quality of the Anet A8. I didn’t even leveled the bed! The only thing I struggle with is how I get the prints from the bed. They are really strong attached on the bed. Any suggestions?

Check your first layer height.

Also what is the bed material and temperature?

Hammer and a mudder’s tape knife…
I’ve seen demos of people sliding razor blades under the print and then sliding a chisel under the razor.

I have done the razor thing. It is great until you break the blade.

I use a stanley window scraper. Tap it around the edges then a big tap and it comes straight off.

Two tricks that helped me remove PLA:

  1. Re-leveled my bed with a bit more of a gap. I noticed my first layer was getting really smooshed on the bed and I’m obviously not having a problem with it popping up (since I can’t pry it off easily). This helped quite a bit.

  2. Heat up the bed to around 60 C before removing. My print starts to get softer around 50 C and I can pretty easily slip a putty knife under the corner and it’s easy going from there.

Note: I’m using buildtak on a Monoprice D6. Your mileage may vary depending on your setup.

I second the Bed to 60C. be careful prying the part up. PLA will be a little soft and if you pry too hard you can warp that part from the bottom.

I also second the first layer adjustment. my first layer was getting smashed into the glue/heat bed and it was taking me 20+ min to safely get a part of my heated bed. you dont want to lay the layer down, but you really don’t want to cram it into the glass/glue.

Lots of people have bed adhesion problems, so be happy  Seriously though - it may seem ridiculous to buy a specialty item like this, but this tool was recommended by someone and it has been the perfect solution for me. It is thin and strong without being so sharp that it scratches the bed. It is especially good for getting all the way under large parts. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VB1U886

@Thomas_Cox how do i check the first layer height? The bed material is the stock one…tape? The bed temperature was 45C

Yes painters tape and use calipers to measure the brim of a pprint.

Heat print bed to 60, after print is finished let it cool down and as the piece and bed cool they shrink at different rates and the piece pops off. Can take up to an hour but it’s worth it. I also use a glass pane on the bed, which i would also recommend.

Same thing for me with my pei on my prusa i3 MK2 ABS sticks to that like crazy! (No abs juice) I need to wait until the bed completely cools down…

@Thomas_Cox atm i don’t have a caliper. Its pretty thin

You really need to get a measurement. I use a first layer of .3 with a .4mm nozzle.
