My first attempt at designing a vase. I used Rhino and Meshlab.

My first attempt at designing a vase. I used Rhino and Meshlab. Printed in PLA with an Ultimaker.

not bad at all smooth it off and give it a nice finish/colour you have a custom product. quality.

Care to provide some details on what you did with Rhino and Meshlab?

Design outer vase as a solid
Export to MeshLab
Voronoi-fy it. (look at this guide - http://meshlabstuff.blogspot.ca/2009/03/creating-voronoi-sphere.html)
Import back to your CAD
Make inner vase
Combine, cleanup (this is hard) and prepare for 3D printing (Close holes, fix manifoldness)

BTW, I’m using this as an experiment to see if selling 3D models online works. I’ve published this on several websites and I’ll give it 30 days to see what happens.

If you haven’t already, rework a version targeted at Shapeways’ Ceramic process (see http://www.shapeways.com/materials/ceramics) and try offering it for sale that way.

Pretty cool

Nice

Looking forward to a report on how much you will sell. What is your expectation?

Also, which sites did you publish at?

Not bad for a first attemp. Looks nice

Laybrick (assuming its not porous) would be awesome for this imho.

I love it

Nice! Also, double +1 for using Rhino, I heart Rhino.

@Shachar_Weis that’s a pretty awesome design! Could you share the stl?

Impressive work!

Looks like it’s made of two materials. Is the inner part ceramic?

Nope, it’s all plastic. I will release the STL in 30 days once the experiment is over

Looks great!

fantastic!
