My first commissioned printer leaving home.

My first commissioned printer leaving home. :slight_smile:

it look not complete

@christophe_malvasio it’s a RepRap, functionality over form. It prints beautifully!

@Peter_Hertel
idk what purpose you where commissioned for but thoses wires that i see are not protected and i imagine the one that commissioned you is not ok to repair after a small accident that can happen with thoses free wires

@Branden_Coates
you are lucky
anyway cars are much more complicated and long to repair than a 3d printer to assemble
also the prices for both acts are not on the same order
you surelly not find a lot of clients that want to deal with a DIY 3d printer and that pay you a big part of the price of parts just to assemble/modify it …

@christophe_malvasio It’s for a high school, they encourage tinkering and are very capable. :slight_smile:

You’re releasing it back into the wild? Haha, classic .

@Peter_Hertel
you are lucky too
what is your commssuon price ?

I see pretty nice cable management :slight_smile: I do lack of it on my printers. Priority is to get it working and printing… then there is no time for cable management.

@christophe_malvasio Not much, I used to work there and built part of the printer while at work. I also sold/used spare parts I had laying around, which was good since I’m moving out of the country these days.

Thank you @Mateusz_Perlak :slight_smile: I have another shot of it somewhere, and I do think this cabling is one of the better ones I’ve done, at least compared to my personal print “farm”.

@Peter_Hertel Would also like to know commission price :slight_smile:

@Branden_Coates those wires ARE finished. The #Mendel90 specifically calls for ribbon cable backed with polyester film in those locations, to help with longevity on the flex. It is a very well established and extremely well designed printer.

@Ilya_Radchenko Can’t calculate the exact price, since I used some paid work hours to complete it (because I really enjoy building printers it was a good deal for me). I do believe a one-off printer build like this would normally cost 1000-1500 usd, and that is just as much to cover the support and warranty.
I’m moving to the Faroe Islands these days, and am thinking about starting RepRap build/workshops, which could make the printer cheaper as there will be less repair support at least.

Welcome to the internet, where critics will always find something to criticise.

@Peter_Hertel may your progeny go forth, be productive, and not come back for warrantee work!

@Mike_Miller
you are more than critic here !

Thank you @Mike_Miller  :grin:
Of course I have a warranty on what I build @Branden_Coates , how can I take someone’s money and not guarantee the product is working well? On this particular mendel90 sturdy, in have about 100 hours test print time. Only one hiccup due to a dirty print plate, so it’s pretty stable enough. Still, giving a warranty can be very time consuming, so I hope it stays that stable.
Octoprint on a dedicated laptop ensures smooth and easy printing. I’m going to run all my printers on @OctoPrint now!
