My first "Ditto" print using Sailfish.

My first “Ditto” print using Sailfish. This is a chainmail using both extruders at the same time. thing:68848 on thingiverse.

Very Cool.

that is cool, are the pieces connected or do they move freely?

How’s your experience with sailfish been. Debating on installing. What are you using to slice?

So the stripe widths is the distance between your two extruders?

@zephyrin_JG They move freely. They are just linked together.

@Eric_Moy I had a couple hiccups with the installation and bricked(?) my machine. The tricky part is when you have to hit upload and press reset.I kept clicking both at different intervals as I’ve read you have to push reset then immediately hit upload. Impatient me didn’t understand that you should wait after you do it once and I kept clicking. It appears as if nothing is happening but the machine is processing. I had to re-install the Makerbot firmware and then tried again with sailfish. After I installed sailfish, I used ReplicatorG 40 Sailfish. However, the chainmail was sliced in Makerware. Sailfish is faster by the slicing takes a lot longer in RepG.

@Josh_Ajima Yes, they are. Here is how it was done http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:68848/#instructions.

@Eric_Moy I’m sorry, I did you RepG to slice this, it took a really long time to slice.

@Claudine_S_T on thingiverse, whpthomas has posted GPX which he error to convert gcode to x3g files. I tried it a few months ago and could not get it to work, but it has been updated since. In hoping to try slic3r or kissslicer, as makerware is really slow and I’m really not impressed with the slicing. I also do not like how you can’t preview the gcode. Even when I export as gcode and open in repetier host, it all shows up as travel, which unfortunately is not very easy to see. I can probably tweak the colors in repetier, but slicer is so much faster than makerware. I might try replicator g.

@Eric_Moy I downloaded the Openscad file as GPX I’m not familiar with. Lol, I’m still in the baby stage of 3d printing. From openscad I exported the .stl and sliced it in RepG 40 which took forever.

Sorry, my autocorrect is confusing things. Gpx is software that is posted on thingiverse that allows you to use slivers other than makerware or replicator g to create .gcode files. Gpx will cover the gcode to x3g files that is usable on your replicator.

@Eric_Moy Ahh…something else I have to learn. So much to learn with this hobby.
