My first proper test print. Mr jaws… I aborted the run, have to relocate to my shed as far my family is asleep
Must source a piece of glass. Does PLA stick to glass as well?
Actually I used some tape but it melted. At least it came off and the marks you see is from the adhesive (sticky) I’ll try some different tapes.
Thanks - ill try lots of things as it seems
I added rubber feets - it helped a lot, they are about 1cm tall and pretty soft.
Printing PLA on cold glass can be tough - you’ll probably need hair spray. Printing on blue tape works reliably as well.
Also, if printing made that much of an imprint in your bed, your hotend is probably going too far down.
PLA on hot glass for life.
PLA on unheated sanded and laser etched acrylic has been working very well for me.
Razor blade to clean up skirts or pry large things off, wipe with rubbing alcohol once in awhile, and yeah, dont park the hot nozzle on the acrylic longer than a second or two.
Oh and I just picked up something like this at Radio Shack:

Haven’t tried it yet but it might work really well.
I got a sheet of 1mm aluminium and a sheet of 1mm galvanised steel. Will try both…
PLA on hot glass works well. 60-75 degrees for normal PLA, 90-100 degrees on the first layer for difficult PLA that won’t stick. I hear blue tape works cold, I’ve only tried it on a roll of difficult PLA that wouldn’t stick, and that’s when I found the trick of 90 degrees for the first layer.
I suggest you do find a piece of glass- then spray the print surface of it with hair spray. Let the spray dry on the glass before you print and reapply when adhesion begins to weaken.
It works much more reliably for me than the blue tape and cheap hair spray is also cheaper than good blue tape.
I already used glass and tape - works great.
Right on.
I like not using tape cause then the bottom of the print comes out super smooth and shiny.
Ok so it is for the end result, not how plastics can be removed from the surface. I’ll try with hair spray
