My latest print is done and I couldn’t be happier with it. All told it took over ten hours but Baby Groot is done.

Do you have the file for that?

That’s insane… What’s really required to be able to print like that? Is it just settings or is it also the printer? Like having nice motors and a ridged frame? I feel like it’s really more on the settings side but I could be wrong.

The file is on Thingiverse. As far as printing it’s done in two pieces, the body and the head. I’ve found that using the process settings in Simply3D I get better print quality because I can adjust the speed for the different areas. I start the base at 3600mm/min then drop to 2400mm/min at .5mm. I’m printing with .2mm resolution. The body was printing at 2400mm/min with no problem. I printed the head at 3600mm/min until the base of the head then dropped to 2400mm/min. At beginning of the top of the head I dropped to I believe 1200mm/min since there were small pointed areas. This file if very high detail. The gcode files were over 30MB on the body. I’m really please with the way it turned out. My wife already has it sitting on the mantel next to her Baby Groot mug she got at the theater.

@Kevin_Danger_Powers You either need a good printer, or to print very slow with a printer that doesn’t have quality issues when you run it slow. (Some stepper driver ripple issues get worse at low speeds.) Then the slicer settings and filament quality both need to be good.

Very achievable for anybody, but it takes some learning to get there.

@Ryan_Carlyle that’s where I’m at right now. I’m still learning how to set things up to really get good prints. I’ve gotten decently good but still have lots to learn.

printed on an Anet A8 acrylic body printer, 70mm/s speed/ 120mm/s travel speed. 0.1mm layer height ABS, 30% infill. Sat him on a laser etched hellraiser cube for photo  same model as above, printed in 2 pieces. Was a really easy print to do as I haven’t tweaked the settings at all.
