My old, very old, Sells Mendel has come home.
I built this in 2010, and it was the bleeding edge at the time.
It still works!

TangleRap has come home
This was my first 3d printer, and it was the bleeding edge Sells Mendel variant.
It was called TangleRap due to two reasons, one is the untidy nature of the cabling l, the other is that it had lived at the local Makerspace, Tangleball.
All the white pieces are the original parts (ABS) that I bought from nophead.
The RAMPS board is not the original, as I already designed my own before RAMPS was a thing
X and Y carriages were overhauled to use linear LM8UU bearings.
The Wade Extruder was replaced with Greg’s Extruder as the Wade Extruder broke. But held together long enough to print a replacement.
The hot end changed from a roll your own nichrome heater to a J head, to another J head to another variant, before long the hot end became the E3D V5 then into the V6.
The thermocouple was only replaced once
and that was only because the could not free the original from the fire cement.
So this one printer went through about 7 hot ends, but only 2 thermocouples
Later upgrades came via 0.9 deg steppers for the X and Y axes.
