My portable printer getting more Z height and are not as portable anymore.
New build volume is 220x220x1300mm
Expect to be finished in about a week if all goes as planned
OMG. You just redefined the concept 3D-printer.
My question is can it reliably print something over a meter in height?
A welded aluminum frame is properly hard core.
Please help me understand the height thing. I ordered a 440mm high, 220mm circular bed delta (Trium). Afterwards read about the difference in strength along layer direction and across layer direction.
If my understanding is correct a tall print (ie Eiffel tower) would not be strong against bending along height. It could delaminate between layers.
Is it correct to say that for printing long objects better strength requires printing on a wider bed instead of a taller print volume?
If so for what purpose would one use a tall print volume?
Thanks!
@Nelis_Willers I build it so high because the aluminum profiles that someone had thrown in the trash had this length. You would not print an object at 1300mm in ABS but with large nozzles (1-1.5mm) and thick layers (0.8-1.3mm) printing PETG or PLA 1m objects like for example sculptures and vases will be ok. For things that need strength, I have another printer.
