My printer had been working fine for a few months when suddenly it stopped

My printer had been working fine for a few months when suddenly it stopped connecting to my computer. I reinstalled ftdi com port drivers and the arduino drivers along with baudrates and different com ports but nothing has worked. I tried it on a laptop too and with repetier host and cura to no avail. Do I need a new board or is there some easier solution?
Thanks

You could probably just roll back the driver or download an older driver from FTDI. The newer driver doesn’t brick the chips anymore, just replaces everything with the same text string.

Read the thread @Nathan_Walkner posted. Amongst the crap and arguement are details on which versions of the driver work and don’t work.

@Nathan_Walkner Unlikely he ended up with the V1.0 driver though. More likely he has the V2.0 version (out of Windows Update) that is just stopping comms. That said, he needs to be careful when he rolls back, which is why I suggested he read through the thread for which version to use. I’d post a direct link to the post with the detail but I am using G+ on my phone and a bit busy atm.

Thanks a lot, I’ll read the thread and try that

So it appears I have the windows updated 2.0v since it still sees the device as FT232R USB UART. Installed the older version (2.08.30) mentioned in the thread via the executable, but it is still refusing to connect, should I install it differently or use a different driver?

Thank you so much my printer has been useless for weeks!
