My printrbot simple metal keeps diving into the bed mid print, I’ve checked the z coupler to make sure its tight and it seems fine. What else should I check? Its happened 3 times in a row so far and I’m not sure what to do
Is this a slow dive like normal motor speed movement?
Or a dive like suddenly drops off a cliff?
It seems to be both, sometimes it will only skip a layer or two down, and then i will have to stop the print, sometimes i will look away and find the hotend draging through my painters tape
I have earlier printrbot XL in wood. The only times I had something like that were:
(a) the set screw on the Z coupler let loose. That showed up if both directions randomly. It would only catch the highest thread on the rod and spin almost 360 before catching again.
(b) Z motor drive wasn’t great enough (probably due to misaligned nut on arm binding a bit). It would miss steps - not go up enough. No problem with a big dive though.
@Alan_McNeil ya i checked to coupler first thing and its tight as hell
How hot are your steppers/drivers running? A thermal shutdown of the driver Z-axis might cause you some grief
@Ishaan_Gov mabey, i havent seen any of them get to hot but im not realy lifting it up mid print to check that so i will look into it, i was prining fine yesterday and today i couldn’t get a single print completed
@Niclas_Oberg I was going to say, call in the man.
@Mindless thanks ill check that out
