My prints have taken a dramatic turn for the better while using PLA.

My prints have taken a dramatic turn for the better while using PLA. This may have helped ABS as well but have not tried it yet. The little blobs that can be anywhere and everywhere are virtually gone. The corners are not protruding and are flat with the walls.

What i did:

Doubled the jerk settings. I think this was most of the fix. I went from 25mm/s to 50mm/s on X and Y.

Doubled the jerk on Z from .25mm/s to .50mm/s

Some other thing that helped was upping the retraction to 4mm and 150mm/s.

Zeroed all the accelerations controls.

This has made a world of difference for me.

Is that a Bowden extruder?

It is a direct drive on a Solidoodle2.

Glad it is working good for you

Thanks for the info!

Hard to understand how doubling Z jerk helps, any thoughts on that? What do you mean by zeroing acceleration control? Thanks!

I am not really sure. I just tried it and it helps, or it didn’t help but it was the other settings that did. Spose i could return it back to factory specs and try what happens.

In Repetier under Configure. Go to speed then at the bottom of the screen is - Acceleration Control’s - ( advanced). If you set those to zero then your speeds are what is set in the - Speed for Print Moves - and are not accelerated beyond that. I suspect you can get some overshoot if these are to high causing the corners to be pronounced among other things.
What speed i had gained before was really offset by the print quality being poor. For me slower is better.

Cool, I’ll give it a try.
