my projects are never nearly as cool as the ones you other guys post but I guess I should put something up.
I’m working on this door for a local escape room.
The room this goes in is an alice in wonderland theme…
Basically there are two rooms the players must navigate (“The Rabbit hole”, and “Happy Unbirthday”). In this room there are several doors that offer clues and whatnot but they ultimately lead to this door which is displaying the nice cloud palette until the a player touches the glass on any of the panes.
Through the magic of capacitive sensing it switches into “Simon mode”…
The players then have to play and win 8 rounds of a Simon-ish sound/color game. (only 3 windows…)
Once they complete the task the piece plays a little tune, unlocks a door to the next room and displays rainbows and glitter until the room is reset.

Rainbows and glitter… Yeay!

Well done with standing the pixels off the surface of the glass for some nice diffusion. Cool project indeed.

Thanks Marc. I need even more diffusion. Ping pong balls and frosted glass can only diffuse so much, The owner said 39 leds was enough, but I could have smoothed it out a lot more if there were more leds… Good enough I guess.

Hey! Fantastic idea, great build!
Any learnings or tips?

Well, one thing I did learn is that I don’t like cutting strips up only to hand solder them back together again. And I did use your matrix array method of mapping the virtual pixels…
This and my other projects can be laughed at in my github. https://github.com/SigmazGFX/Simon_Says_Matrix_Door

That’s awesome! Forget the escape room… if my kids were younger I’d build them this door with the same function for opening it! Good job!
