Is retraction turned off ?

It is on.

Then something is wrong, it should be much cleaner than that. It looks like no retraction at all. What slicer are you using ?

slic3r. It looks just like the #3D view after slicing.
To me the rest of the part looks good. The vertical walls ect.

You should not get those strings inside the hole. Try to increase the retraction distance and speed.

It looks like one of the crappy old MakerGear hot ends. They’ve got a lot of heat-creep up that nozzle and tend to ooze. It may not be that his retraction is off, so much as maybe it’s not tuned for that end?

Ooz is a big problem. I have to extrude 50mm after a print to get filament out the nozzle. This is a Solidoodle2,. just received 2 days ago. Another thing is even when the extruder is up to temp the Gcode " i guess " keeps the extruder off to the side of the bed, after i hit run then i loose all the filament that was in the nozzle by the oozing. Seems it shouldn’t have to wait to get up to temp when it already is.

The stringy filament that is there actually shows in the 3D view so it is printing it because of that i would say. I am printing a different item and again the 3D view shows stringers and the stringers are being printer same as the 3D view. Cant they be turned off in slic3r?

In your 3D view, turn off ‘show retractions’ (or maybe it’s show travel moves?) if you’re using repetierhost. The lines you’re seeing are merely travel lines and not part of the print. In slic3r, in advanced mode (why the hell they ever put simple mode I have no idea) go to the printer tab, click on the extruder setting, and make sure your retraction is 1.5mm (or more)…

I just checked and it is at 1. Can i change it during a print? slic3r

What temp are you using for the extruder?

@Wayne_Friedt , you can’t change it during a print. It’s part of the gcode generation, so unfortunately not something tunable on the fly.

@Ian_Johnson Temp 185
@John_Ridley I will check that.
@ThantiK Ah ok didn’t know what i was looking at.

@Shachar_Weis Thanks to you i have greatly reduced the stringers. Retraction is now at 4. I also changed the extrusion multiplier to .87. Not gone but big improvement.
