Need advise.
My printed object filled with a lot of tiny hair (filament). Previously, I was running with different supplier of PLA, I don’t see this issue, is it material or my setting.
Same setting for 2 different supplier.
PLA 1.75MM, 205C, running on Marlin, host Mattercontrol, with and without fan, same issue. Refer to pictures. The cube printing have no cross over from different side, it printed along the edges.

check out retraction speed

You are printing to hot, try 190 degrees C.

What hotend are you using?

I used my own design hotend, similar to direct drive. I did reduce to 185C, still have some hairy filament… with cooling fan enable.

maybe the PLA is too much time liquid because the hot part of the hotend is too large, and when it does retraction, it cant create enough pressure. We had the same issue with out hotend

Is it normal even when it is not printing the filament just extrude out by itself gradually, length about 30mm or more, does it mean the hotend area is too wide? The liquified filament just drip out, in turn during printing, it actually extrude more then expected and creating hairy filament

yes, try to make the hotend shorter

as i said, i am sure the hairs come from retraction, but the problem is that the plastic is too liquid. Try to play with temperature, retraction speed and length (i use cura, i dont know slicer), and if you can make another hotend, try to make the hot area shorter, so the filament wont be liquid so much time

Interesting. What is the new supplier of the filament?

the new filament supplier that I am using is from China, “Haruta3D”, diameter is consistence as I did comes across some that diameter vary too much causing clog or extrusion inconsistent.

Also try drying out the filament, to much moisture makes it more oozy.
