Need some help here.
hello friends, im just entering in this fascinating world, just recently bought from smw3d a cnc ox with a tiny g board, it took a little bit to assembly but now i was able to make it work, i configure the machine just how it was in the todd´s videos in youtube, the machine works fine, but i can´t make it cut i precise way, i try to cut a 100x100 mm square, but the machine cuts in 96x98 mm. if you are so kind to give me some guidance i would be very gratefull.

cheers

Hello @Felipe_de_la_jara this is a matter of tuning your steps per mm in the firmware. Sounds as though you are very close.

Let’s move this over to the OX group and bet several guys will be happy to assist.

A quick and dirty answer, draw a 12"x12" square in your cam, move to Chilipeppr. Cut the square. Measure. On the right hand side of Chilipeppr you will see a TinyG widget box (typically the center box) on the top there is a settings button, click this.

A window for your settings will open up. In the field for steps/rev (maybe it’s steps/mm, can’t recall) move the numbers for X and Y down 5mm, I.e if it says 60 move them to 55.

Cut the square again, measure. What happened? Did the square get larger or smaller.

Iterate this process till your box is 12"x12". Only perform this task with an engraving bit or with a pen or pencil attached to the spindle. A missed measurement of the end mill diameter will cause variance as well.

Hope this helps, there’s actually a lot to learn from this exercise.

hello brandon, thanks a lot, im going to check this and let you know, what a fantastic machine by the way.
cheers
