New desktop full color 3d printer from Mcor.

New desktop full color 3d printer from Mcor. paper base as it is their key technology. Looks good.

Still too many cons like high price, non-functional (weak) printed parts, problems with thin details etc. So still only for limited purpose. But nice evolution after all.

Have you seen those printed parts?

has anyone ever done strength tests on the printouts? I’ve heard they’re stronger than you might think but have no idea for sure.

@Chris_Lane they look strong. paper and some sort of binding agent (glue) http://diy3dprinting.blogspot.hr/2014/02/hammertime-by-mcor-technologies.html

I have seen some architectural prints from bigger/older Mcor. There was problem with thin beams/columns (at last they had to be made from other material) and details. These prints looks nice and are suitable for static models, but some physical characteristics (shear/tension) will be weaker then from melted thermoplastics.

ah, understood…wish they would send out sample prints…or anyone know a service that uses Mcor printers that I could get a print from?

They are very strong but not on thin parts. Grab a block of regular bong paper then imagine it all glued together. It’s super strong and heavy. Heavier than anything out there besides metal

wow, thats kind of expensive, I imagine the ink and the paper isn’t going to be cheap either…

Compared to $30,000 it’s quite cheap

Ink is around 1000 and it will yield a lot. Paper is regular bond paper you buy everywhere. Mind this is for the Mcor iris
