New rod ends for my Rostock Max using sturdy stakes from lows.
0.8oz for my diagonal rod assembly before gorrilla glue.
0.3oz for the Original (the new sturdier version is surely heavier) SeeMeCNC diagonal rod.
I could probably trim some weight off by removing the plastic from the outside of the sturdy stake and spray painting it black.
It is funny. Some folk on a certain forum were calling me crazy for going through the bother of designing and making these instead of shelling out $24 + shipping for something injection molded. It seems they do not understand that having a project to spend time on is worth more than an approximate $22 dollar difference. Yeah. I got my sturdy stakes for about $5. I used some gas. I used some time. I was puzzled a few times. I did not get bored though. Besides, there would be no open source movement if people did not spend time on things that other folk thought was a waste of time because you can have someone else do it and pay them for their goods.
I think for rod ends what you’re paying for is precision and reliability and I think it’s worth it. Although I do think $24 +shipping is crazy. You can get 12 Losi ball studs and ends for half that on ebay.
I dig where you’re coming from with the DIY satisfaction, but with some parts you can save yourself grief by buying known-quality items.
@Roger_Waggener Either way, this is an improvement over what I had. Those arms were flimsy. LOL
Right on. Sturdy Stakes rock.
