New toys turned up in the post today. Azteeg x5 mini. For those that don’t know it’s got a smoothie brain and 4 drv8825s soldered onto the board. will be using it on my new 24v single extruder bot.
Out of the box what’s most obvious is how small it is, hence the name I guess.
Not unsurprisingly given Azteegs reputation the board design and manufacture look very professional; tidy soldering, we’ll positioned connectors etc. Also only took 5 days to (1st class) usps it from the US to Wellington.
New bot? I am excited to see what you cooked up now
Guess we both have new toys from Roy
Awesome board! Pop into #smoothieware if you have any probs!
Wow. Just took me 25 minutes from closed box to having a stepper moving. Including downloading firmware, reading the quickstart guide, wiring it up etc etc. Used to take that long just to get the firmware loaded on RAMPS :D.
I’m curious, does this board offer anything more than the smoothieboard (which I am currently using) other than its size? IMO smoothieware is great and going forward my machines will be running it. I have been planning on grabbing another smoothieboard to replace a ramps on my delta, but this does look nice…
What’s some of the differences between Marlin and Smoothie? I recently got this board from Roy but haven’t had time to look into the details. A friend wants to build a Wilson with the board, thoughts?
