Nothing more then a design at the moment.
It’s going to be my christmas decoration for this year.
My window is devided in 3 parts , in front of each window part i’m going to hang a 3d printed arch.
The arches will be filled with ws2811 breakout boards from sparkfun.
A lot of soldering ahead.
Then i’m going to have to come up with a fitting animation…
The middel section will be around 130 cm , and the 2 side parts will be around 70 cm. There will be a led every 2.5 cm.
Also the curve will not be circular , it will emulate a rope hanging between 2 fixed points.
Wow, that’s a lot of 3d printing. Would have to be multiple printed parts glued together, yes?
Did you consider using LED strings like these so you don’t have to do all that soldering? Certainly a different form factor… but no soldering of hundreds of points! http://m.aliexpress.com/item/1932882946.html
yup , the big arch is beeing printed in 8 parts , the smaller arches in 4 parts. So 16 parts in total. I’m already printing the first ones , it takes about 2.5 hours to print 1 part.
And I did see the strings, but somehow they didn’t register to me as being usable.
To late now to do anything about it anyway . I already have the breakout boards.
