now they are on indiegogo
Late to the game, these guys have some fierce competition to handle. The Printbot Simple is very similar and almost $200 less.
This is more printable, for those that don’t have access to a laser cutter.
@matthew_bennett They don’t need a laser cutter; that price gets you ALL the parts for a complete build.
@Carlton_Dodd Sorry, the Smartrap design is more printable vs. Printrbot Simple.
I’m not talking about the ease of making your own, I’m referring to the success of the Ingigogo. As a $470 kit, it’s just not very appealing.
I completely support entrepreneurs, but I’m abstaining from Kickstarter and the like for the next year or so. I’ve spent too much money on items that are too little too late. I’ll still donate to some, but several hundred dollars is a large sum to gamble IMHO
This design is too early for crowd-funding, there are few little things to fix.
I tried to assemble today and most of snap bearing holders broke when tried to put bearings into them.
I like it as a small printer, it will hard to make stable larger printer. Price of additional parts is almost same as other larger and stable printers.
I roll back what I said - I see a lot of updates on thingverse, that makes this machine pretty cool. fixes here and there makes it nice cheap alternative.
