Now to hack a scanner out of this thing…

My Kinect 2 dev kit arrived! Thick cables, huge powerbar, breakout box, it’s an ungainly beast. Also, stickers!

The resolution is much higher, but the field of view is also larger. Everything is still very much early stage, I’m still struggling just to get the SDK working.

Is there a special program I have a first edition Kinect that came with my xbox 360 would that work for 3D modeling?

Is the connecter the same on the connect as a USB plug since I have it from an xbox360?

Ok where can I find the software to make the 3D models and how do you make them?

As Daniel said, download the Kinect SDK from Microsoft, it includes samples for Kinect Fusion, which is a 3D scanning tool.

Was that it?

Lol it has the dev zebra stripes. For those who were asking the Kinect 2.0 for xbox doesn’t have an adapter that comes with it so you cannot run it on your pc easily. The Windows version is in beta right now. I think it is on a path for a summer release.

Yesterday I found out why it has those zebra stickers - to hide the xbox logo

The camera is identical to the xbox one, but you can’t use it on a PC without that breakout box and PSU. The release version (in the summer) will probably be different.

lol, i heard that zebra stickers are designed to make digital reconstruction impossible and to obscure flaws and seams in-case of a leak. In pictures it looks flat and rendered.

Was that the link?
