Odd question: Can I use one laptop to run two printers at the same

Odd question: Can I use one laptop to run two printers at the same time? I am nearing the completion of the second Frankenbot and in order to get all the printers finished in time, I really need two or three printing. My computer has the power to process the code no problem, but will it allow for two connected printers at the same time? Using pronterface.

Yes. Each will show up on a different serial port

I can speak for repetier host - running 2 separate instances each driving its own printer works fine

Repetier Server

Sure, I’ve done this numerous times with pronterface. Works very well.

Or use Octoprint so your computer can even be off.

SD cards or octoprint. I never suggest using a computer to run printers because there are just too many ways the print can get stopped. Currently I use SD cards on both of mine because they are in my office area but octoprint would be better if they were in a different area.

If you’re using a board that is SD capable, i.e. a printrboard, you should be able to print with SD even if you don’t have an LCD controller; I think you can use the autostart G-code file name (auto0.g IIRC) to start printing a file

Yup, using a printrboard with custom firmware. Just haven’t had the time to flash the revised version to allow as support.
