Ok, here is a report from my first proper brushless test drive.

Ok, here is a report from my first proper brushless test drive.
As I mentioned earlier I’ve never driven brushless before and I’m blown away by the speed, it’s crazy fast!! And super fun obviously.

So how did it go? I would actually call it a success. You might wonder why after looking at the picture…
Well, I went out thinking that if it doesn’t brake for 30 seconds I’m pleased.
But I was able to drive it until the battery died. Only drawback was the two front wheels being torn of halfway thru the test drive. But I just put on the old ones and continued.
Keep in mind that this was in no way “hard core” driving, being very careful when accelerating and slowing down. But still, going down a grassy hill, taking some turns and such.
As I will be “upping the ante” things will brake for sure but as for now I’m just going to lean back, have a beer and feel really good about myself!

I think this i probably the first time since i started i felt like “i did it”…

Really well done.

and if it makes you feel better… took my “proper” shop bought truggy out today and managed about 1.5 packs through it before breaking something (car and three wheels going one way, 4th wheel going another - lock nut had failed). Took it home, fixed the wheel, then managed to break a lower a arm.

silly question - how are you holding the wheels on? Are they a normal hex and then lock nut on the outside? Did the wheel fail?

@Jari_Worsley Yes, a normal hex and a nut. The front rims failed. Those were printed with a poor filament i have, Everything printed with it turnes out “brittle” and brakes. I was stupid enough to ignore that and printed the rims anyway because i wanted them black… shit happens…
I will just have to settle for non black rims for now…

Thanks @Szymon_Kobalczyk i will try to get do a video tomorrow!

@Szymon_Kobalczyk I’m sure we can work something out!

Tonight i’m going to design some bodyholders before next testdrive!! It’s actually starting to look like a proper RC car now!

That car is looking great Daniel. I was wondering what material are you using ABS or PLA to print from? I was wondering which material you find more suitable for RC projects or which one prints easier for that matter?

@Jeff_Tucker Thanks!
It´s all ABS, i have barely printed with PLA so i wouldn´t know… maybe someoe else can answer that question.

If the wheels failed with the current design - how about just printing racing style dish wheels?

@Jari_Worsley This was a case of bad ABS, everything i printed cracked, sometimes even when removing it from the build plate. I returned it to the reseller.
