Ok I seem to have some problems printing. The printer seems to have problems at certain layers. This is my resolution test. PLA. This is the best print… By pushing the feeder 140%
Thanks

Looks like over extruding. Have you calibrated your extruder?

I need to over extrude because at some point I don’t get enough material. You can see two specific lines across the print that has less material. How do I calibrate the extruder

Yeah, if this is your best print you have issues. You really should not have to be adjusting your flow % that much. You should start off by getting it to print at .25mm layers where that looks good and get the flow at 100% looking right.

I have also seen issues like the top part when printing really fine layers when it starts doing a lot of retraction. I have a setting I use that sets retraction distance really low on .1mm and lower layers or I get the “shredded wheat” effect.

Google for a YouTube video by Thomas Sanladerer.

Thanks a lot I will look into that tomorrow

This one solved my problems early on: http://reprap.org/wiki/Triffid_Hunter's_Calibration_Guide#E_steps

I would try adjusting your parameters through firmware rather than software. Firmware calibration is effective regardless of the software you are using. Also, software calibration is in direct conflict with whatever your firmware settings happen to be. What kind of printer are you using?

The printer is a home build by a company that closed

Check das that your hobbed bolt or drive is not loose. Also check, if that empty layers are printed, if the filament is stuck and not feeding correctly. Looks to me that you have over extrusion but on some layers nearly no extrusion at all.

I would start with the calibration of the extruder first. Otherwise you will just be chasing your tail trying to compensate for a bad cal.

Looks like an extruder problem. I had the same thing happen. Also looks like a possible heat creep issue. Both were problems that I had.

I think, You need more cooling for the part or lower temp.

lower temp… I get more more problems. not enough material comes out or I parts melt. :frowning:

Calibrating… well I just hit a wall. I have no clue on how to send commands. I have a UI with limited information. I will look for the the video this morning

Use Tom’s video as a guide. If you don’t have repetier installed, you could use it just for this.
