Ok just got my first 3D printer, and was wondering if anybody could give me advice on best Pla filament, there seems to be a lot out there and I don’t want buy a low quality product if it has an impact on print quality
Printer is a Prusa i3 kit from factory3d if anybody is interested
I have a prusa i3 too and I’ve made good experience with PLA from NuNus Filaments. They are cheap and have a constant good quality for this price.
Are you in the US? If so I would highly highly recommend Inland PLA from micro center to start with. I have been through at least 50 rolls and never have any issues. $15 a kilo making it incredibly cheap.
Thing is, most PLA filament will be fine these days. I tend to look in the £25-£35 per kilo range for filament as it’s about the best value and you will usually find it prints well. it also depends on your location as to what is cheaper, etc.
3 Main brands I use are @rigid.ink , 3D Prima & @Extrudr . With the best quality coming from Extrudr. All available on Amazon (I would go direct, but I have Amazon Prime, so it’s easier to go through there)
Yep uk based so will probably look locally, thanks for the advice so far will have a look
In UK try http://spannerhands.co.uk (I have tested #Fillamentum materials for 18 months with very good results on several machines).
Personally I found that high temp pla (220 C) often prints alot more consistent than the lower temp (190 c)
@Craig_Sumner - If you want UK based, go @rigid_ink https://rigid.ink
http://www.faberdashery.co.uk/products-page/
sold by the mtr, brilliant to print with vivid colours to choose from.
then https://www.imakr.com/en/19-all-filaments for everything in between.
then theirs Excelvan 3D Filament on ebay best in budget, dont go pissing away premium fila on test prints.
How about you living in colder climate. Workshops with a 10-14C degree draft.
I have had good luck with these guys. http://www.hh3dplastics.com
Good value. US company and free shipping!
Filaments from bq and http://www.filafarm.de are very cheap and very good. Colorfabb is very good but more expensive.
Ok lots of choice, seems like everyone has there favourite vendor, guess I will try a few of your suggestions and see what my results are like, thanks everyone
Does anyone know of a good filament supplier in Australia ?
